Odisha: Thunderstorm, Lightning Likely In 4 Districts, Yellow Alert Issued

According to the latest communique issued by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) Regional Centre here today, a light to moderate thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain is likely to affect some parts of Puri, Khordha, Jajpur, and Bhadrak districts over the next three hours.

For the aforementioned districts, the IMD has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert.

Furthermore, gusty surface wind gusting to 40-50 km/h is expected in some parts of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts until 7.30 PM.

Its impact caused minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, as well as minor damage to banana trees. Standing crops may sustain some damage.

People have been advised to keep an eye on the weather for worsening conditions and to be prepared to relocate to safer areas if necessary and especially to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
