Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, declared on Tuesday that the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana will be implemented in the state in the next two weeks.
A major step toward increasing healthcare access for millions of people was taken when Majhi made the statement in Satyabhamapur in the Cuttack district during the state’s foundation day celebrations.
Although Majhi did not provide an explanation, the rollout was postponed from its original April 1 launch date in conjunction with the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana.
He underlined that the program, which provides cashless treatment at 29,000 hospitals nationwide, would help almost 3.52 crore people in Odisha. This vast network, which consists of establishments both inside and outside the state, guarantees specialized care for individuals in need.
Majhi emphasized the program’s capacity to change lives by highlighting its emphasis on rural communities, economically disadvantaged groups, and those who cannot afford expensive medical care.
During his term, he accused the previous Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government of rejecting the Ayushman Bharat plan.
He emphasized that the new program significantly increases coverage to 29,000 hospitals, whereas the previous Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) only covered 900 hospitals.
