In an enormous boost to rural housing, the Odisha government plans to sanction concrete dwellings for 37 lakh more families through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme in the coming months. The announcement was made today by Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik.
Minister Naik told reporters that the Centre has already authorized the proposal, and the state government is preparing to implement the next phase of allocations.
“The government plans to sanction the new houses by November this year. I have already held detailed discussions with the Union Minister concerned during my recent visit to New Delhi,” he said.
The minister stated that the application review procedure is now underway. “We are reviewing over 4 lakh applications received online. The review of offline applications will commence soon,” Naik affirmed.
The news represents a huge extension of Odisha’s central housing plan, and it is projected to give much-needed home security to millions of rural residents.
With this, the administration hopes to speed its efforts toward inclusive growth and higher living standards throughout the state.
