The second All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) of Odisha would be established in Sambalpur, Health Minister Mukesh Mahalinga announced on Monday.
While speaking in the State Assembly, Mahalinga stated that the Odisha government intends to open the AIIMS Sambalpur and will shortly discuss it with the Central Government.
To alleviate the shortfall of medical personnel, he announced the establishment of new medical colleges in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Puri, and Jajpur, as well as new nursing institutions.
Mahalinga also stated that the Odisha government has constituted a task force chaired by the Chief Secretary to protect the safety of working doctors, and plans are underway to establish police outposts in each medical institution.
The Minister also stated that ambulance arrival times will be lowered from 30 minutes to 20 minutes, and free dialysis programs will be implemented at 55 health centers around the state.
Mahalinga also declared that Ayushmann Arogya Mandirs will be established in all gram panchayat headquarters to supply yoga instructors and medical staff.
Furthermore, 300 doctors and paramedical workers will be hired soon to solve the medical professional deficit, and the Odisha Health University will be fully operational, offering medical and engineering courses in Odia, the Minister declared.
