Cuttack: Traders’ bodies in Cuttack have extended their assist to the Bharat Bandh called by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on February 26.
The decision has been taken in a gathering on the Malgodown Traders Association office on Thursday.
The traders body within the Millennium City said that they are going to be observing the Bandh in protest of Goods and Services Tax (GST), arbitrariness of e-commerce and FSSAI rules.
The traders body also said that the rules on input tax credit are a punishment for the traders. Given the complexity of GST, it has turn into very difficult to proceed business, read a statement issued by the Association.
It is worth mentioning that nearly 40, 000 trade associations, representing as many as eight crore traders in the nation, have extended their assist to the nationwide Bandh known as by CAIT tomorrow. They’re demanding a review of the provisions of the goods and services tax (GST) regime.
According to a CAIT statement, all commercial markets throughout the nation will remain closed to mark the protest. Plans are also afoot for a Chakka Jam.
The traders body has alleged violation of e-commerce rules by major e-tailers.
“There is no effective regulator to monitor e-commerce business in the country because of which e-commerce firms are adopting unethical and unfair enterprise practices which are affecting offline traders,” the statement read.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the organisation has known as for setting up a central working group comprising senior officers, CAIT representatives and independent tax experts to review the GST structure.
