The East Coast Railway (ECoR) announced on Tuesday that 74 more trains had been canceled for two days owing to track maintenance at Bahanaga Bazar station, the location of the three-train disaster on June 2. Some trains have been canceled due to rake shortages caused by the accident.
Meanwhile, three trains have been diverted owing to maintenance work, according to ECoR. The following trains have been diverted:
- 18477 Puri-Yog Nagri Rishikesh Express, journey commencing on 05-06-2023 will run on a diverted route via Sambalpur-Jharsuguda Road- Ib.
- 18478 Yog Nagri Rishikesh – Puri Express, journey commencing on 05-06-2023 will run on a diverted route via Ib-Jharsuguda Road-Sambalpur.
- 18478 Yog Nagri Rishikesh – Puri Express, journey commencing on 06-06-2023 will run on a diverted route via Ib-Jharsuguda Road-Sambalpur.
Rain services on the route began 51 hours after the disaster when up and down lines were reconnected. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was present as train operation resumed on Sunday following the completion of track restoration.
