To aid in the identification of victims of the Balasore train derailment, the Odisha government has posted passenger information on three websites.
The following websites offer lists of travelers having treatment at various hospitals: https://srcodisha.nic.in/, https://www.bmc.gov.in/, and https://www.osdma.org.
To aid identification, lists and images of deceased passengers were also posted on the aforementioned websites.
“The photographs of the deceased in the Balasore train accident are being posted only to facilitate identification. Given the nature of the accident, the images posted are disturbing,” an official said.
The government has warned children not to view these photographs.
According to the official, no one (media/individual/firms, etc.) can reproduce/publish & utilize the photographs for any reason without the prior written authorization of the Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha.
According to the source, a control room has been built in the office of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner, from which people would be led to either hospital or mortuary using automobiles.
The BMC has established a helpline at 1929. In addition, help desks have been established at all entry points, including Cuttack Railway Station, Bustand & SCB Medical College, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Baramunda Bus Stand, and Bhubaneswar Airport.
Toll-free numbers — 18003450061 /1929 (24 by 7) — are available for assistance to the families/friends/relatives of the deceased and travelers stranded in the horrific train incident.
