The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center here has projected the creation of a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal later next week. The cyclonic circulation may deepen into a depression, bringing in another round of moderate rain across Odisha’s southern districts.
The IMD predicts that a cyclonic circulation will form over the South Eastern Bay of Bengal by November 14 and will take the shape of a low pressure region over the Bay of Bengal by November 15.
While the cyclonic circulation is expected to advance in a south-eastern direction, it may alter course and head northeast by November 16.
As a result, the moderate rainfall is expected in the Southern parts of Odisha from November 15.
There is a low to moderate probability for the formation of a depression over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during the first half of November’s second week (17.11.2023-23.11.2023), the IMD said.
