A cyclonic circulation is forming in the Bay of Bengal, and it is expected to develop into a low-pressure region by Friday, bringing heavy rain to numerous portions of Odisha.
According to the weather service, a cyclonic circulation has formed over south-east Bangladesh. It will gradually travel west-northwest, forming a low-pressure region between the West Bengal and Odisha coasts by October 4.
However, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director-General Mrutyunjaya Mohapatra claimed that there is no threat of a cyclone in Odisha right now. Nonetheless, the IMD has encouraged fishermen and coastal dwellers to remain vigilant, since the low-pressure system may bring unpredictable weather.
On the other hand, the IMD has issued a yellow signal for rain with thunder and lightning in 10 Odisha districts on Thursday. On Thursday, the IMD predicts lightning and thundershowers in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
On Friday, rain and thunderstorms with lightning are expected in numerous areas of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal, as well as coastal Odisha.
Overall, the weather will be mostly dry for the next three days, however some areas may see mild to moderate rain. Rainfall is likely to rise beginning October 8.
