The day temperature (highest temperature) has been climbing across Odisha in recent days due to the retreat of the southwest monsoon. Daytime temperatures in several parts of the state were from 35°C to 36°C, causing discomfort.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that daytime temperatures in Odisha would continue 3°C to 4°C above normal for the next five days. While there has been no rain in most of the state in recent days, the heat has grown oppressive. The presence of considerable moisture in the atmosphere has also resulted in high humidity levels.
The heat is still present in coastal Odisha. Dry weather is expected to dominate over Odisha, with no chance of rain in the state for the foreseeable future.
Temperatures of 35 degrees or above have been recorded in 19 cities around the state in the last 24 hours. The Regional Meteorological Center, on the other hand, has stated that the weather will be ideal for the entire departure of southwest monsoon air from Odisha during the next two days.
Meanwhile, the weather conditions in Odisha remain favorable for monsoon withdrawal, according to the IMD.
