Several sections of Odisha are expected to get moderate to heavy rainfall over the next several days as a result of an active low-pressure area over the southeast-central Bay of Bengal region, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Within the next six hours, the low pressure will travel west-northwestward, producing a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal, and will then move northwestward over the west-central Bay of Bengal on November 16.
By Thursday, the depression would have formed deep precipitation, delivering heavy rain to coastal Odisha. The IMD has already issued an orange signal for heavy rains on Thursday in coastal Odisha. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Jagatsinghpur, Puri, and Kendrapara. Heavy rain is also expected in some places of Ganjam, Khurda, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jajpur, Baleshwar, Mayurbhanjwar, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh districts.
The rain will continue until November 17, according to the weather service. On November 17, the IMD issued a yellow signal for heavy rain in numerous areas. Wind speeds in Odisha’s coastal sections would range from 45 to 65 kilometers per hour, according to the forecast.
Fishermen are warned not to venture out to sea from now until November 17.
