The India Meteorological Department predicts that July will bring Odisha its heaviest rainfall, with five districts probably seeing higher than average precipitation.

The districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Keonjhar are anticipated to see the most rainfall. Furthermore, isolated areas in Malkangiri and Koraput can get more rain than usual.

Odisha Weather: No Respite From Thunderstorm Activity Till May 20, says IMD

Lower rainfall is predicted in some areas of the western region, while above-normal rainfall is predicted in the interior of Odisha, according to the IMD regional center.

As of July 2, the State had received 164 mm of precipitation since June 1, which is almost 24% less than the average amount of 216.5 mm that was anticipated.

Malkangiri has experienced above-average rainfall, while Mayurbhanj district is notably humid. Thirteen districts have received above-average rainfall, with fifteen experiencing moderate rainfall, states IMD’s Regional Center.

IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall continuing for the next five days, with the possibility of heavy rain in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Rayagada, Deogarh, Sambalpur, and Bargarh by Tuesday morning.

Intermittent rain is expected in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur districts over the next 24 hours.

With 153 mm of rain between yesterday morning and this morning, the Kotpad area of Koraput district received the most, followed by Kantapada in Cuttack district with 80 mm and Tensa in Sundargarh with 75.6 mm.

The districts of Nabarangpur and Dhenkanal recorded rainfall of 60.2 mm and 52.2 mm, respectively.
