The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regional center here issued a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in seven districts of Odisha on Tuesday.
Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in the next three hours in Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, and Nayagarh.
Collectors in these regions have been put on high alert, and residents have been reminded to take precautions to avoid being struck by lightning and thunderstorms.
While temperatures in Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas dropped significantly after overnight showers, the IMDhere regional office has issued heat wave advisories for various districts in Odisha for today.
Heatwave to severe heat wave conditions are extremely possible in one or two spots in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and Bolangir. For these areas, the Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning.
Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Ganjam, and Jajpur are also likely to experience heat waves.
On the other side, Cyclone Biporjoy has intensified in the Arabian Sea, prompting the IMD to issue a red alert for all Gujarat districts.
On Thursday evening, Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagarh, and Morbi may see stormy weather with wind speeds of 125-135 kmph gusting to 145 kmph.
Fishing throughout Gujarat’s south and north shores has been banned, and authorities are evacuating people in seaside regions in preparation for Cyclone Biparjoy.
