The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has anticipated a period of generally dry weather across Odisha over the next week, with a significant drop in low temperatures likely after the next two days.
According to the midday weather advisory issued on Thursday, no major weather systems are currently hitting the region. The day’s observations revealed shallow fog in the interior districts of Sundergarh and Kalahandi, with dry conditions elsewhere.
Temperatures varied significantly across the state. Paralakhemundi had the highest maximum temperature of the day at 34.2°C, while Phulbani in South Odisha had the lowest minimum temperature of 13.0°C. The IMD reported a significant drop in low temperatures of nearly 4°C in various regions of South Coastal Odisha.
The weather forecast for the upcoming week is generally consistent, with one slight exception:
Day 1 (Today until tomorrow morning): Light rain is very likely at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.
Day 2 to Day 7: Dry weather is expected to prevail across all districts of Odisha.
Residents should expect a gradual shift in nighttime temperatures. According to the IMD, there will be “no large change” in the minimum temperature during the following two days. However, a 2°C to 3°C drop is expected during the next three days, indicating the start of chilly nights.
For the state capital, Bhubaneswar, the weather for the next 24 hours anticipates fog or mist in the morning, followed by mostly clear skies later. The highest and lowest temperatures are expected to be approximately 33°C and 17°C, respectively.
