According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain or thundershower is highly likely to occur at various locations across the districts of Odisha over the next five days, with severe spells and thunderstorms with lightning at times.
The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for districts that are expected to be hit by thunderstorms with lightning or heavy rain.
Here’s the IMD’s weather forecast and warning for the districts of Odisha over the next five days:
Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 24.08.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be updated) 1)Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri.
2) Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Deogarh, Boudh, Cuttack, Malkangiri, Koraput.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.08.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha and at many places over the districts of South Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.
Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.08.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.
