On Wednesday, heavy fog covered many areas of Odisha, including the twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Some areas also saw light rain during the early hours of the day.
Light rain is still occurring in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and certain areas of north interior Odisha, such as Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh neighboring Sonepur, and Bolangir districts in north coastal Odisha, according to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Though several parts of the state experienced higher-than-normal nighttime temperatures during the past 24 hours, there is less of a temperature differential during the night and it feels colder.
According to the regional weather office, the state capital witnessed a further drop in the night temperature, recording 16°C in the last 24 hours. The city had recorded 16.4°C on Tuesday and 17.2°C on Monday. Cuttack saw a slight rise in the mercury level at 15.6°C, compared to 14.5°C on Tuesday.
Jharsuguda recorded a maximum day temperature of 18.2°C, Sambalpur 18.7°C, and Rourkela 19.6°C due to cloudy weather on Tuesday.
According to the weather office’s forecasting, certain parts of the state may see morning fog until Thursday, at which point the weather is expected to clear out starting on Friday. Additionally, it has forecast that for the next three days, the state’s nighttime temperature will probably decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
