A low-pressure area has formed over Gangetic West Bengal and bordering Jharkhand due to cyclonic circulation, the India Meteorological Department announced on Friday.
According to IMD sources, the low-pressure area is currently centered over Gangetic West Bengal and bordering Jharkhand, with associated cyclonic circulation reaching up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
According to the IMD, the low-pressure system is expected to move west-northwestward and grow more prominent during the next 24 hours. The system is expected to intensify, bringing further rainfall and thunderstorms to various portions of the state. The precise trajectory and intensity of the system will be closely monitored by the regional weather service.
Odisha is expected to get heavy to very heavy rainfall as a result of low pressure, with some areas seeing extreme rainfall on August 2 and 3. The system may cause flash flooding and disturbances to daily life. Residents in these locations should take care and be updated about local weather updates and advisories.
