Odisha Weather: Low Pressure Area Over BOB; Heavy Rains Likely In Several Dists Today

On Thursday, the cyclone from Wednesday reached a height of 7.6 kilometers above sea level in the northwest Bay of Bengal region. A low-pressure region is expected to form over the same area of the Bay of Bengal in the next 12 hours due to the influence of this cyclone, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Several districts in the state are expected to suffer severe rain on Thursday as a result of the low-pressure system. Today, heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible in Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Angul, and Sambalpur districts. For these districts, the IMD has issued an orange alert.

Heavy rainfall is also very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Koraput, the Meteorological Centre forecasted. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts.

Moreover, a yellow warning has been issued for 12 Odisha districts for heavy rainfall on Friday. These districts include Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Rayagada, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Bargarh, and Jharsuguda.
