Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the same area, a low-pressure area has formed over the central Bay of Bengal and adjacent locations. The cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level and has a southwestward orientation.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the low-pressure system will intensify over the next 24 hours and move across the shores of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh, as well as south Chhattisgarh, in the next three days. According to the weather service on Wednesday, it anticipates heavy rainfall in the region.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre in this city has issued red, orange, and yellow weather warnings for many districts across the state for Wednesday.
Red Warning: Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 20 cm) with isolated extremely heavy (>20cm) rainfall is likely to occur in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal and Ganjam.
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Khurdha, Puri, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh and Sambalpur.
Yellow Warning: Heavy Rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Bhadrak and Kendrapara.
