Minimum temperatures (night temperatures) fell by 2°C to 3°C in various parts of Odisha over the last 24 hours as a result of cold, dry air entering the state from the north and north-west.
The lowest night temperature of 13.2°C was recorded in G. Undyagiri and Koraput in the state’s mountainous districts, while it was 12.7°C and 13.0°C in Kirei and Fulbani in the plains, respectively, according to the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Wednesday.
The capital city of Bhubaneswar was obscured by dense fog on Wednesday morning. According to the IMD, dry-cold air is blowing from the northwest and north due to an active depression.
According to the IMD, with the drop in night temperature, the entire state, especially in the hilly areas of Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangari, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Gajapati, will experience cold weather.
At the same time, light to moderate rain is likely in some districts of south Odisha today. According to the IMD, light rain may occur in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal along with Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts.
