Nor’wester rain, followed by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected to last until March 25, according to the India Meteorological Department.
In the previous 24 hours, the effects of western disturbances have brought heavy rains to various sections of the state. The IMD predicts that Nor’wester rain, together with thunderstorms and lightning, will cause temperatures to drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius over the following four days.
However, the regional weather service predicts that temperatures will gradually rise beginning March 25.
The IMD has issued an orange signal for 12 districts in Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms and heavy rainfall over the next four days. The districts with orange alerts include Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jaipur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Angul.
Additionally, 18 districts have been issued a yellow alert, suggesting the risk of severe rainfall and thunderstorms.
The Nor’wester rain is being caused by a low-pressure system over Odisha as well as the existence of a trough line in northwest India.
