The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Odisha issued a warning on Wednesday, stating that the state’s maximum daytime temperatures are predicted to jump by 3°C to 5°C over the course of the next week, disrupting daily life throughout the region.
In numerous areas of Odisha, the daytime high has already surpassed 37°C. The state is currently undergoing a heat wave. The state’s hottest spot, Paralakhemundi, with a high temperature of 38.2°C. It is anticipated that the temperature will shortly approach 40°C.
Meanwhile, disturbances from the west have caused a depression to form in coastal Odisha. As a result, for the next few days, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in some locations. In several coastal districts and especially in north interior, light to moderate rain is predicted, according to the weather office.
Some places in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj are likely to expect light to moderate rain/thundershowers today. The day temperatures are likely to be below normal in the districts receiving rainfall today. The weather will remain dry in the remaining districts and the temperatures in these places are likely to rise by 2°C to 3°C above normal.
According to the MeT, several districts are likely to receive good rainfall on Saturday. However, the weather will remain dry with the mercury soaring to nearly 40°C from early next week. The temperature is likely to increase by 3°C to 5°C above normal, especially in coastal and interior Odisha.
