Following the India Meteorological Department’s prediction of a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal today, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued directives to all District Collectors to remain on high alert and ensure preparedness.
According to sources, the SRC has advised all districts, particularly those under orange and yellow alerts, to remain cautious and prepared for possible rainfall and thunderstorms. The SRC has urged the administrative machinery to be prepared for any scenario.
Citizens are advised to be updated about weather updates and take the appropriate actions to guarantee their safety. During thunderstorms, individuals should seek secure shelter to avoid lightning strikes.
Fishermen have been specifically warned to take strict precautions in light of the expected weather conditions. This precautionary action is intended to avoid any potential injury or loss of life among fishing communities.
Districts have been urged to make quick reports to the government whether they were caused by a thunderstorm, whirlwind, hailstorm, lightning, or rainfall. This will allow the government to assess the situation, provide required support, and move quickly to alleviate the effects of the inclement weather.
