The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a forecast on Monday that said certain areas of the Odisha districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak would likely see thunderstorms and lightning over the next two hours, along with gusty surface winds of up to 40 kmph and light to moderate rain.
It has been suggested that people monitor the weather and relocate to safer areas if necessary.
For the next few days, rain and thunderstorms are predicted to occur in a number of Odisha districts, according to the weather office. During this time, it projected strong gusts that might reach 40–50 kmph per hour.
Additionally, the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar of Odisha are also likely to experience rain today.
A yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms has been issued for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal and Deogarh. In addition, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places in north Odisha, south coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Boudh, and one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha.
An orange warning for rain has been issued in several Odisha districts. According to the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning and hailstorms accompanied by gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Angul, Nayagarh and Dhenkanal on Tuesday.
There is a possibility of thunderstorms with lightning and intense rain in one or two locations across the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, and Khurda.
