With 9 cities in Odisha already recording daytime temperatures of more than 37.0°C in the last 24 hours, there are fears that the mercury will soon cross 40°C in some areas of the state. Already, the daytime temperature in many parts of the state is 4.0°C to 5.0°C higher than the normal temperature.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), high temperatures have occurred in Odisha as a result of a lack of rain.
Boudh, Nayagarh, and Talcher had the highest maximum temperature of 38.0°C, while Sonepur had the third highest maximum temperature in the state at 38.7°C.
