The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has issued an alert regarding the emergence of another low-pressure area in Gangetic West Bengal and surrounding areas. “A cyclonic storm is operating in the upper atmosphere of Jharkhand and northern Odisha, close to the Gangetic West Bengal. An IMD statement issued on Thursday morning warned that it is likely to develop into low pressure in the next 12 hours.
As a result, heavy to very heavy rain is forecast over Odisha on Thursday. More rain is anticipated during the next 24 hours. Under the influence of low pressure, the state will see considerable rainfall until August 11. There is a possibility of more rain in the upper reaches of the river due to possible low pressure.
Due to the rain, an orange warning has been issued for seven districts in Odisha. Alerts have been issued for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Koraput, and Nabarangpur.
Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for 16 districts due to heavy rain. Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, and Bolangir districts have all received a yellow alert for heavy rain.
