Odisha Weather updates: Cyclonic Storm In Bay Of Bengal Likely To Intensify Rain Across State From July 18

The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here forecasted on Thursday that Odisha could get heavy rain from July 18 to 24 as a result of a cyclonic storm that formed in the northwest Bay of Bengal on July 16.

Rainfall is expected to increase over the state beginning July 18, according to the weather service. The low pressure system is expected to form between July 18 and July 19. On July 21, it will reach the Odisha coast after passing through Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur. From July 18 to July 24, Odisha is expected to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for heavy rains in six districts of the state in the next 24 hours: Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. During this time, these districts may receive 7mm to 11mm of rain.

It should be noted that Odisha received insufficient rain (Cyclonic storm) this monsoon. There has been a rainfall deficit of around 27% of the predicted average rainfall up to this point. So far, Devgarh has received the most rain, while Kalahandi has received the least.
