With no indication of rain in the forecast, Odisha’s heat wave is becoming more severe by the day. By 5.30 a.m. on Monday, the temperature in Bhubaneswar had reached 30°C, with an 88% humidity level.
According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, hot and uncomfortable weather is expected to last for two more days.
The weather office predicts that there will be no substantial change in day temperature (highest temperature) in the state for the next two days. As a result, thunderstorms are expected to persist along the coast and in central Odisha for the next two days. The daytime temperature will be 4°C to 6°C above normal in several sections of the state.
Although the heat and swelling are reasonable, they are extremely dangerous for young children, the elderly, and the sick. As a result, the IMD has recommended individuals to avoid direct sunlight and drink plenty of water. It has also been suggested that if possible, avoid traveling between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and bring enough beverages even if you are not thirsty.
Meanwhile, the IMD issued orange and yellow heatwave warnings for one or two locations in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, and Keonjhar districts on Monday. Sundargarh, Nuapada, Kandhamal, and Mayurbhanj districts have received a yellow heatwave warning.
Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts on Monday, according to the meteorological service.
