Several regions of Odisha are expected to receive severe rain during the next 48 hours as a result of a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure system over the west-central and adjacent northwest Bay of Bengal strengthened into a deep depression on Monday. Wind speed is at 7 kmph, and it is expected to intensify and cross the Puri shore by noon. As a result, severe rains are forecast in five districts, with a yellow alert issued for 12 districts today. The IMD predicts heavy rain in coastal and central Odisha later in the day.
The deep depression is en route to north Odisha and West Bengal along the Odisha coastline. It will cross the coast of Odisha and West Bengal between Puri and Digha by Monday noon.
