Rain and thunderstorms are expected in 12 districts of Odisha until March 19. Thunderstorms with lightening and gusty surface winds reaching up to 40-50kmph are very likely to occur on Thursday in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, according to an IMD bulletin.
Furthermore, thunderstorms with lightning are expected to occur in one or two locations across the remaining districts of Odisha today.
Due to western disturbances, the wind speed will be between 40 and 50 km/h in addition to the rain. A yellow alert has been issued for several coastal districts that are expected to receive heavy rain.
A low-pressure zone stretches from the West Ganga and the Himalayan foothills to southern Odisha. As a result, the IMD predicts more western storms.
The maximum temperature (day temperature) is expected to drop by 2-3°C in many parts of Odisha over the next four to five days due to rainfall.
