Thunderstorms are expected in numerous parts of Odisha over the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) lunchtime weather bulletin.
The weather service has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for numerous regions of the state till Friday.
Forecast and warning for Odisha districts over the next five days:
Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.06.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected in a few locations across the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, and one or two locations across the remaining districts.
YELLOW WARNING: 1. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph are quite likely in one or two locations in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal. 2. Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in one or two locations over the districts of Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, and Dhenkanal.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely to occur in one or two locations in Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput, with dry weather expected to prevail across the rest of Odisha.
WARNING: Thunderstorms with lightning are expected to strike one or two districts: Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are quite likely in one or two spots over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore, with dry weather expected across the rest of Odisha.
YELLOW WARNING : ( BE UPDATED) Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in one or two locations in the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely in one or two spots over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, and Cuttack, with dry weather expected across the rest of Odisha.
Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 11.06.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are quite possible in one or two locations in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore, with dry weather expected to prevail across the rest of Odisha.
Furthermore, the IMD has predicted that there will be no significant change in Maximum temperature (Day temperature) for the next 5 days. One or two districts in Interior Odisha are likely to experience temperatures of 42°C or higher during the next 5 days.
