A low-pressure system is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal on Friday, but it would have little impact on Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today. However, numerous areas across the state may get mild to moderate rain accompanied by lightning over the next three days.
The low-pressure system is expected to bring severe rain to neighboring West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Odisha’s northeast region.
The IMD issued a yellow warning for light rain in 21 Odisha districts on Friday. The weather office predicts rain today in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.
While there will be no major rainfall in Odisha till October 7, the intensity of the rain is expected to increase from October 8. While temperatures will gradually rise by 2°C-3°C, humidity will remain high over the state due to the monsoon’s delayed withdrawal. The weather will be largely dry over the next ten days across the state.
