The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in several locations across Odisha over the next three days.
According to an IMD bulletin issued on Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely to occur at one or two locations over the coastal Odisha districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada, while dry weather is expected to prevail over the remaining Odisha districts.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur on Thursday in one or two locations across the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi.
On Friday, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected in one or two places across coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nawarangpur districts. Dry weather is expected to prevail over Odisha’s rest districts.
In the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunder/lightning is forecast for Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas. The low and high temperatures are expected to be around 37°C and 23°C, respectively.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms have fallen in a few places across south and north Odisha. A gusty wind of 56 kmph from the southwest has been recorded in one or two places over Bhubaneswar and the chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are R Guda (Rayagada) 6, Kolnara (Rayagada) 6, Rayagada (Rayagada) 4, Rayagada Pto (Rayagada) 4, Bhanjnagar (Ganjam) 3, G Udayagiri (Kandhamal) 3, Udala (Mayurbhanj) 3, Dharakote (Ganjam) 3, Sheragada (Ganjam) 3, Kotagarh (Kandhamal) 3, Jagannath Prasad (Ganjam) 3, Nuagaon (Nayagarh) 3, Kalinga (Kandhamal) 3 and Sankheimundi (Ganjam) 3.
