According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast in its lunchtime bulletin on Sunday, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected to persist in numerous districts of Odisha until February 28.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall has occurred at a few places in south coastal Odisha, and heavy rainfall at one or two places in Khurda and Ganjam. Most of the rainfall occurred in Banpur (Khurda), Belaguntha (Ganjam), Chilika (Khurda), Buguda (Ganjam), Bhanjnagar (Ganjam), Daringibadi (Kandhamal), Dhankauda ( Sambalpur), Titlagarh ( Bolangir), Jagannath Prasad (Ganjam), Hirakud (Sambalpur), Gopalpur (Ganjam), Kotagarh (Kandhamal), Bhubaneswar Aero (Khurda), and Rangeilunda (Ganjam).

Minimum temperatures observed marked rise at one or two places in south interior Odisha and no large change elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 35.0°C was recorded at Malkangiri and Titlagarh and the lowest minimum temperature of 15.5°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 26.02.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places in north Odisha, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, and at one or two places in Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, while dry weather very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.02.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places in Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Angul, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sambalpur, and dry weather very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.02.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, north Coastal Odisha, Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, while dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 29.02.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.03.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Day 6 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 02.03.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Day 7 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.03.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.
