The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre reported on Tuesday that nighttime temperatures have been dropping throughout Odisha for the past two days and that the cold wave will likely intensify in the days ahead.
The majority of the state has seen a 2–3°C decrease since Sunday night.
IMD’s midday weather bulletin states that temperatures are predicted to decrease by 1°C on Tuesday and that the cold has become apparent in numerous districts. On Wednesday, they might increase by 2°C before starting to decline once more on October 7.
On October 8, Kandhamal is expected to experience a minimum temperature of 13°C. Lows of 14°C in Rourkela, 16°C in Sambalpur, and 15°C in Gajapati are predicted for other districts.
According to the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre, lowest temperatures in the state have barely changed from -2.0°C to 2.0°C, indicating that winter chills are progressively making their way to coastal Odisha.
Many sites in South Interior Odisha had nighttime temperatures that were 5–6°C higher than average, a few locations in Interior Odisha had temperatures that were 3–5°C higher, and other places in Coastal Odisha had temperatures that were 2–3°C higher. Temperatures were almost typical everywhere else.
Over the next 24 hours, Bhubaneswar’s temperature is predicted to reach a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 21°C. There will likely be some clouds in the sky.
While South Interior Odisha stayed within the seasonal average, North and South Coastal Odisha recorded normal temperatures over the last 24 hours.
As the cold wave approaches, residents are urged to take precautions, particularly at night and in the early morning.
