Bhakta Charan Das, President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), along with eight opposition political parties, has appealed to the state’s people, all Left and democratic parties, trade unions, farmers’ organizations, women, youth, students, and all sections of society to make tomorrow’s Odisha Bandh successful.
According to the OPCC president, the joint opposition party has stated that this bandh should be a bandh of the people of Odisha for women’s dignity and security in the face of the misrule of the double engine BJP administration.
However, essential services such as ambulances and individuals seeking treatment would be spared from the bandh. However, a call has been issued for a complete shutdown of markets, transportation, educational institutions, government offices, courts, and public-sector organizations like as banks and insurance companies, he said.
Bhakta Charan Das urged to the public to help in observing the bandh peacefully across the state, including in the state capital Bhubaneswar.
It should be noted that the left parties have called for a “Odisha Bandh” tomorrow in order to put pressure on the state administration to provide justice for the 20-year-old BEd student at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore who died after attempting self-immolation. They also called for the resignation of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, and Balasore Sadar MLA Manas Kumar Dutta.
Furthermore, they urged the state government to take immediate action against the Balasore District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police.
