Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with his Japanese and Australian counterparts, Prime Minister Japan, Fumio Kishida and Prime Minister Australia, Anthony Albanese, on the sidelines of the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington on Saturday.
During his discussion with Kishida, Modi complimented the Japanese leader for his steadfast dedication and leadership in enabling recent accomplishments in the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
“The two prime ministers warmly recalled their many interactions, especially since their first Annual Summit in March 2022,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
Both Modi and Kishida noted that the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership is in its 10th year and expressed satisfaction at the progress made in the relationship.
“The two Prime Ministers reviewed the multi-faceted relationship between the two countries and exchanged views to deepen cooperation further, including defense and security ties and B2B and P2P collaborations,” the PMO further said.
Meanwhile, Modi and Albanese addressed strengthening bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, including politics and strategy, defense and security, commerce and investment, education and research, climate change and renewable energy, and people-to-people ties.
They also discussed regional and global topics of mutual interest.
“Both leaders renewed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the multilateral fora and reiterated their commitment to take the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to even greater heights,” said the PMO statement.
According to the report, the two prime ministers agreed that the frequency of high-level talks has given bilateral ties a significant boost.
