The UAE will preside over the COP28 Summit from November 30 to December 12. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Dubai to attend the World Climate Action Summit, which is being hosted in conjunction with the United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP28). The Indian diaspora in Dubai welcomed PM Modi with rousing cries of ‘Modi, Modi,’ ‘Abki Baar Modi Sarkar,’ and ‘Vande Mataram.’
Modi will make an appearance at the World Climate Action Summit for the third time, after his visits to Paris in 2015 and Glasgow in 2021.
The intense atmosphere was captured on video by news agency ANI as people of the diaspora strongly echoed their support for PM Modi. The chanting included slogans praising Modi’s leadership and excitement for his government, as well as the patriotic exhortation ‘Vande Mataram.’ In another video, PM Modi interacts with the public, exchanging greetings and interactions with the enthusiastic members.

The warm greeting in Dubai reflects not only the close bond between the Indian diaspora and their leader, but also global attention and support for climate change projects. As world leaders gather at COP28 to address crucial environmental issues, Prime Minister Modi’s presence and the resonance of his leadership throughout the diaspora highlight the importance of international cooperation in addressing climate difficulties.
The Prime Minister will have seven bilateral meetings, deliver four speeches and be part of two special initiatives on climate events during his stay in Dubai for around 21 hours, officials said on Friday.
“COP28 will also provide an opportunity to review progress made under the Paris Agreement, and chart a path for future course on climate action. At the Voice of Global South Summit convened by India, the Global South spoke for the need for climate action based on the principles of equity, climate justice, and common but differentiated responsibilities, as well as a greater focus on adaptation,” he said in a statement Thursday ahead of his visit to Dubai.
