Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold up to seven meetings on a number of topics on Sunday. These discussions will cover subjects of immediate significance.
According to sources in the Central Government, the first conference would discuss the post-cyclone situation, particularly in the northeastern states. Cyclone Remal made landfall in West Bengal on May 27 at 135 kmph, uprooting trees and causing torrential rainfall and damage along the way.
Following that, the Prime Minister will convene a meeting to assess the nationwide heatwave situation. An extreme heatwave has gripped most states in north and central India, with many cities seeing temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, IMD’s daily evening bulletin showed a maximum temperature of 52.9 degrees Celsius in Mungeshpur, the highest in the country, before being retracted. However, according to IMD, the scorching conditions in north India would likely subside in the next two days.
Other meetings of the Prime Minister will involve an extended brainstorming session to go over the agenda for the 100-day program.
This comes after pollsters predicted that PM Modi will serve a third term. This session is likely to focus on the Modi government’s priorities and strategies for the next months.
Prior to the election campaign, PM Modi made it very clear that all critical decisions would be made within the first 100 days of his administration.
The majority of exit polls released on Saturday projected 350 or more seats for the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
The Prime Minister will also hold a meeting to discuss preparations for World Environment Day, which will be marked on a big scale. The occasion is on June 5th.
This year’s World Environment Day topic is ‘land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience’. Saudi Arabia will host the international event, which will focus on both global and local activities.
