On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced development projects worth over Rs 60,000 crore in important areas such as telecoms, railroads, and higher education in Jharsuguda.
During his visit, Modi lay the groundwork for the development of eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country. This extension seeks to accommodate an additional 10,000 students over the next four years, therefore strengthening the country’s higher education infrastructure.
In a substantial boost to the telecommunications sector, the Prime Minister inaugurated over 97,500 4G telecom towers outfitted with BSNL’s ‘Swadeshi’ technology. PM Modi also inaugurated a new 5 km flyover in Sambalpur City, which was built at a cost of Rs 273 crore to improve urban connections and alleviate traffic congestion.
This is Modi’s sixth visit to Odisha in 15 months, after the BJP took control in the state in June 2024. The visit demonstrates the national government’s commitment to boosting development and infrastructural growth in Odisha.
