Today (July 30), Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivers the 103rd edition of his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat. The Prime Minister discussed the monsoon-related occurrences and praised the collaborative effort on the 103rd installment of his monthly radio show.
“Past few days have been full of worry and trouble due to natural calamities. People had to suffer in many places due to many flooding rivers like Yamuna. Incidents of landslides have also occurred in hilly areas.” He said in the midst of calamities, people in India have again brought to the fore the power of collective effort.
‘Sawan is associated with greenery and joy’
Sawan, according to the Prime Minister, has been highly important both spiritually and culturally. “Right now, the holy month of Sawan is in effect. Along with Sadashiv Mahadev, the word ‘Sawan’ is associated with greenery and gladness. As a result, Sawan has been tremendously important both spiritually and culturally,” stated PM Modi.
He said that more than 10 crore tourists visit Kashi every year. “You will be happy to know that the number of people reaching Banaras is also breaking records. Now more than 10 crore tourists are reaching Kashi every year,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi mentioned visiting American tourists to the Amarnath shrine. “I learned about two such American friends who came here from California to perform the Amarnath Yatra. These international visitors had heard about Swami Vivekananda’s Amarnath Yatra experiences someplace. They were so moved that they decided to participate in the Amarnath Yatra,” he added.
PM Modi stated that this rainy season is critical for tree planting and water conservation, and that the people of India are making unique efforts for ‘water conservation’ with full understanding and responsibility.
He, however, highlighted the importance of water conservation during this time. He said, “More than 60,000 Amrit Sarovars built during the ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ are increasingly radiating their glow. Work on building over 50,000 Amrit Sarovars is also underway. The people of our country are making new efforts to conserve water”
Citing the example of Pakaria village, PM said, “Tribal brothers and sisters of Pakaria village, with the help of the administration, people have converted about a hundred wells into water recharge systems. Rainwater now flows into these wells, and from the wells, the water enters the ground.”
PM hails record plantation of 30 crore saplings in UP
The Prime Minister also referenced Uttar Pradesh’s record cultivation of 30 crore saplings in a single day as an example of popular participation and awareness. “A few days ago, a record was set in Uttar Pradesh for planting 30 crore trees in a single day. This campaign was initiated by the state government and was completed by the people of Uttar Pradesh.” Such initiatives are excellent instances of public participation and awareness. “I’d like for all of us to participate in these efforts to plant trees and save water,” he said.
India destroyed 10 lakh kg of drugs
He stated that the growing participation of youth in the anti-drug campaign is very promising, and that these efforts contribute a lot of strength to the anti-drug campaign in India. “If we want to save future generations of the country, we have to keep them away from drugs,” he added.
“With this in mind, the ‘NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan’ was launched on August 15, 2020.” This initiative has been linked to almost 11 crore people. India launched a massive anti-drug campaign two weeks ago. It was destroyed after a 1.5 lakh kilogram cargo of narcotics was seized. India has also established a record by destroying 10 lakh kilograms of narcotics. The cost of these drugs was more than Rs 12,000 crore. I would like to appreciate all those who are contributing in this noble campaign of de-addiction. Drug addiction becomes a big problem not only for the family, but for the whole society,” he said.
The Prime Minister also shared a inspiring journey from Madhya Pradesh. “This is the Inspiring Journey of Mini Brazil. You must be thinking that from where Mini Brazil came in Madhya Pradesh, well, that is the twist. In MP, Bicharpur is a village in Shahdol. Bicharpur is called Mini Brazil. ‘Mini Brazil’, since, today this village has become a stronghold of the rising stars of football. When I had gone to Shahdol a few weeks ago, I met many such football players there. I felt that our countrymen and especially our young friends must know about this.”
Over 4,000 women performed Haj without any male companion
PM Modi stated that he has received numerous emails from Muslim women who have lately returned from performing ‘Haj’. He expressed gratitude for the change in Haj Policy, stating that over 4,000 women completed ‘Haj’ without any male companion or ‘Mehram’ this year. “have also received a large number of letters from Muslim women who have recently returned from performing ‘Haj’.” These women conducted ‘Haj’ without any male companion or ‘Mehram’. They number more than 4,000, not 50 or 100. This is a big change, traditionally Muslim women were not allowed to conduct ‘Haj’ without any ‘Mehram’. “I would like to thank the Saudi government for appointing female coordinators for Muslim women performing ‘Haj’ without ‘Mehram,'” the Prime Minister added.
PM announces ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign
The Prime Minister launched the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign to honor the valiant troops who gave their lives for the sake of the country. “In the country, a large campaign called ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ will be organized to honor the brave soldiers who gave their lives for the country.” During this campaign, a ‘Amrti Kalash Yatra’ would be undertaken, with 7500 Kalash carrying soil and plants from villages and various parts of the country to Delhi. “‘Amrit Vatika’ will be created from the soil and plants carried in these ‘Kalash’ near the National War Memorial,” he explained.
Despite the fact that August 15 is just a few days away, the Prime Minister urged people to hang the tricolor flag at home to commemorate Independence Day, and he appealed for continuing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ tradition.

PM Modi’s monthly radio show recently concluded its 100th edition, which aired live across the country on April 26. On April 30, it was also broadcast globally. The presentation was also live-streamed from the United Nations headquarters in New York.
