Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said today that the situation in the three worst-hit districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara is returning to normal.
After examining the post-cyclone rehabilitation efforts, Majhi stated that 8,09,513 individuals were evacuated to cyclone shelters, with only 1,10,770 remaining. According to Majhi, those in flooded areas can stay until things return to normal. The storm affected 22.84 lakh households, and electricity was restored to more than 92% by 7:30 p.m., he said.
Kendrapada, Bhadrak, and Balasore districts were severely affected. While Kendrapara has largely returned to normalcy, Bhadrak continues to struggle with waterlogging, with only 77% of the area restored. The obstacles in Balasore have been lifted, and 81% of users now have access to energy.
Rains flooded the Budhabalang River in Shimilipal, although levels are already stabilizing. Twenty villages in Balasore were flooded, with 2,500 and 8,000 people rescued from the Remuna and Balasore Sadar blocks, respectively.
Mayurbhanj’s electricity supply has been adjusted. Additional powerboats were despatched to Mayurbhanj and Balasore. The water level in Gobindpur Setu is below the danger level. Twenty-eight snakebite victims were treated.
According to preliminary estimates, crop loss occurred on 2 lakh acres of land. Farmers will receive quick support following the water release.
