President Droupadi Murmu landed in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday evening, beginning a five-day visit to Odisha that will include attending the Navy Day ceremonies in Puri tomorrow.
The President was greeted warmly when she arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BBPIA) on a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft.
Later, she went to Niladri Vihar in Chandrasekharpur, where she was received by Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singhdeo and Parvati Parida, and Culture Minister Suraj Suryabansi Suraj amidst strict security.
She prayed at the tribal sacred Santali Peeth in Niladri Vihar and unveiled a full-bust statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu. The President also visited a nearby park and spoke with local intellectuals. After the event, she returned to Raj Bhavan for a night halt.
President Murmu is set to visit Puri tomorrow, arriving at the Puri Talabania Helipad at 9:45 a.m. After that, she will go to Shree Jagannath Temple for darshan. Later, she would visit Puri Gopabandhu Ayurveda College’s 75th annual celebration.
In the evening, the President, as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, will attend the Navy Day ceremony, which celebrates the successful ‘Operation Trident’ in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which dealt a decisive blow to the enemy.
