Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tokyo on Friday to attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. Indian and Japanese officials, including Sibi George, India’s ambassador to Japan, greeted him with open arms. In keeping with the close people-to-people links between the two countries, members of the Indian community also welcomed him with traditional cultural performances.
PM Modi at India-Japan Economic Forum
When PM Modi opened his speech at the India-Japan Economic Forum in Tokyo, he said, “Namaskar, Konnichiwa.” He stated that Japanese businesses had spent more than USD 40 billion in India, and he commended Japan for being an important partner in India’s development. Japan has helped India in various ways, from startups to manufacturing and semiconductors to metro projects.
Modi referred to India as the major country with the quickest rate of growth, highlighting its political stability, economic expansion, and open policies. India is headed toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy, he continued.
Japan PM Shigeru Ishiba on Stronger Ties
At the forum, Shigeru Ishiba, the prime minister of Japan, also gave a speech. He claimed that India’s talented workforce and Japan’s cutting-edge technology work well together. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train is one of the major projects that Japanese businesses are working on in India. He thought back to his trip to Varanasi and was impressed by India’s vitality and development.
PM Ishiba unveiled three main initiatives to increase collaboration: establishing a shared supply chain, enhancing technological alliances, and increasing people-to-people interactions. Maruti Suzuki, which has been a significant player in India for 40 years, was also commended by him.
More Bilateral Talks Ahead
In order to discuss further areas of cooperation between the two countries, PM Modi and PM Ishiba will also have official discussions during this two-day visit.
