Earlier, on October 13, the Palestinian militant group Hamas freed the final 20 Israeli hostages, potentially bringing an end to the battle in Gaza that began with their siege of southern Israel on October 7, 2023. The attack that day killed 1,219 individuals, the majority of whom were civilians, and saw Hamas terrorists seize 251 captives who were transferred to Gaza.
During his address to the Israeli Parliament today, President Donald Trump claimed that the recent Gaza settlement reached between Israel and Hamas came at the perfect time, as Israel’s military operations had become “bad and heated.”
“I said, Bibi, you’re going to be remembered for this far more than if you kept this thing going, going, going – kill, kill,” Trump said in a speech before the Israeli parliament, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“I just want to congratulate you for having the courage to say, ‘that’s it, we’ve won and now let’s enjoy our lives’,” he added.
