In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to impart education in the Indian languages for an improved understanding and improved teaching-learning outcome, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has initiated technical education in Indian Languages in the year 2021-22. To provide the engineering course material in Indian Languages, AICTE has introduced “AICTE Technical Book Writing and Translation” in 12 scheduled Indian languages namely Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, Odia, Assamese, Urdu and Malayalam. For the translation, AICTE has also developed a tool called ‘AICTE Translation Automation Artificial Intelligence Tool’ to translate English Language online courses into different languages. For the first year, 22 books (twelve books at the Diploma level and ten at Under Graduate level) have been translated into 9 Indian languages. In 2022-23, AICTE has already initiated the process for the second year’s original book writing in English. 88 subjects (42 at degree level and 46 at diploma level) have been identified by AICTE for the second year and its chapterwise translation into 12 Indian Languages has been initiated. Additionally, Government of India is also collaborating with Technical Education Departments of respective states for distribution of one set of books in Indian languages for the libraries of each Degree and Diploma level institution of the state.
29 institutes across ten states in seven Regional Languages namely Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil & Telugu have been identified for imparting engineering education in one or more discipline.
Ministry of Education is implementing various schemes to provide financial assistance to the students including that of Uttar Pradesh namely Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for Colleges and University Students (CSSS), Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme (CSIS), Post Graduate (PG) Scholarship, Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially abled students, Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students, AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF), etc.
