To provide devotees with a more comfortable and seamless darshan experience, the Odisha government has launched a proposal to install air conditioning in the ‘Nata Mandap’ (audience hall) of the sacred Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
This program seeks to provide a more serene and comfortable setting for devotees to offer prayers and enjoy hassle-free darshan, particularly during peak season. By implementing air conditioning, the government would alleviate the difficulties that devotees suffer as a result of overcrowding and heat.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration made a judgment in this regard. Following thorough consultations with all relevant parties, the air-conditioning project has been assigned to a joint committee consisting of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, the Puri District Collector, and the Superintendent of Police. According to reports, this coordinated effort will provide a consistent approach to improving the devotee experience at the venerated shrine.
Separate lineups will be set up for older guests to ensure their comfort and convenience, making the event even more seamless and accessible for all believers. Furthermore, the temple administration will remove huge boxes and Almirhas from the audience hall to provide more room and facilitate circulation. However, it has to be decided if barriers or human chains system will be placed inside the temple.
The installation of air conditioning at the ‘Nata Mandap’ is a tremendous relief for devotees, particularly senior persons, who frequently experience pain and suffocation when performing darshan of the twin deities. And devotees are excited to profit from this update, according to a devotee.
