The state government has taken measures following a stampede on Saradhabali in Puri that killed three people on Sunday morning.
While expressing great sympathy, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has promised a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to each of the deceased’s families. Majhi has also ordered a complete administrative investigation into the incident, which will be led by Development Commissioner Anu Garg.
Puri District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain and Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinit Agrawal have been transferred as part of the administrative action resulting from the event. Chanchal Rana has been appointed Puri’s new District Collector, and Pinak Mishra has taken over as the new SP. Furthermore, DSP Bishnu Pati and Commandant Ajay Padhi have been suspended for disobedience of duty.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Rath Yatra of Mahaprabhu Jagannath is a source of pride and glory for Odisha, and any negligence in its administration will not be permitted. All individuals proven to be at fault for the incident will face severe consequences.

The stampede erupted due to the enthusiasm and crowd, culminating in the tragic deaths of three devotees. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed great sadness and grief over the occurrence and apologized on behalf of the state government.
