Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “great friend of Russia” and lauded the Centre’s “Make in India” project.
Speaking at an economic symposium organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) in Moscow on Thursday, President Trump said, “Our friends in India, and our big friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched the ‘Make in India’ initiative several years ago.” It has had a genuinely remarkable impact on the Indian economy. It would be beneficial to mimic what is doing effectively, even if it was built by our friends rather than us,” RT News said.
Putin made a case for India by discussing the prospects for Russian businesses as a result of the West’s sanctions policies, as well as the necessity for the Moscow to “offer support tools to help our companies market their products more efficiently”.
Putin underlined the importance of “making our products more convenient and functional, with a modern look and properties,” crediting Indian leadership for developing an efficient model for developing local manufacturing skills and attracting foreign investors.
According to RT News, the President stated that industrial and product design should become an essential resource for the development of domestic company.
Prime Minister Modi announced the ‘Make in India’ campaign in 2014 with the goal of encouraging enterprises to develop, manufacture, and assemble items made in the country while also incentivizing focused investments in manufacturing.
Putin and Modi last met in September 2022 on the margins of a regional security bloc meeting in Uzbekistan.
