Queen Elizabeth II Death Updates: As a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth’s death, India has declared a one-day state mourning on September 11.
On the day of Mourning, the statement mentions that the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
Meanwhile, King Charles III, who succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, will travel to London on Friday with his wife Camilla, the Queen Consort, to deliver a televised address to the British people. He was by the Queen’s side as she breathed her last at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle.
Following the death of the 96-year-old monarch, condolences poured in from all over the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described her as a “stalwart of our times,” noting that she “provided inspiring leadership to her nation and people” and “personified dignity and decency in public life.”
According to Reuters, Britain’s Royal Family will observe a period of mourning that will end seven days after the Queen’s funeral, with flags at royal residences remaining at half-mast. Though the palace did not specify a date for the funeral, it is expected to take place around 11 days after her death. The Queen had not been feeling well recently and was being monitored by doctors who were “concerned for Her Majesty’s health.”

On Saturday, King Charles will be formally proclaimed as the new monarch.
Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles will be formally proclaimed Britain’s new monarch at a meeting of the Accession Council on Saturday at St James’s Palace.
The King signs an oath to uphold the security of the Church in Scotland at the 0900 GMT Council meeting, which is divided into two parts.
Following the meeting, the Principal Proclamation will be read from the balcony overlooking Friary Court at St James’s Palace at 1000 GMT, with other announcements of the new monarch made across the United Kingdom and in the City of London. (Reuters).
